3 Things to Do On a Rainy Day

So the weather’s been a little “blah” lately… So the thunder’s a-rumbling and the lightning is a-flashing. Just because the sky is grey and melancholy, doesn’t mean you have to spend the day moping around too. Sure, you won’t be spending the day at the beach, or the pool, or doing any water activity, but there’s plenty of fun to be had inside on a relaxing rainy day. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Movie day: Invite some friends over, grab some snacks, make it an event! Or, spend some you-time. Either way, the darkness of a rainy day sets the mood for an at home day of movies. If you’re planning to do this alone, I suggest you go all out and #treatyourself. Buy all your favorite snacks, and when I say all, I mean all. Splurge on those fancy chocolates, buy the family size bag of chips. No one’s judging! Then, set the scene. Grab all the pillows in the house, light some candles, get in your best flannels, and get ready not to move all day. After the day-long snacks are prepared and the pillow fort is built, pick those guilty pleasure movies. Maybe you want to go on a Nicholas Sparks binge or Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, or random documentaries on Netflix. Whatever floats your boat. Either way, sit back, relax, and enjoy the rainy day. If you’re wanting to spruce all that up a bit, invite your friends and make it a girls day! Have them each bring their favorite movie, that way there’s not only a variation of stuff to watch, but everyone’s happy. Pop some cookies in the oven, make sure everyone’s in their PJ’s with a fair amount of popcorn (and wine), and relax.
  2. Crafts: You know that gallery wall you’ve been meaning to create? Why not paint some canvases for it? You know how you’ve been meaning to get a little more organized? Why not build a shelf? All those things you’ve been pinning on Pinterest and “saving for a rainy day…” Guess what! It is quite literally a rainy day! And let’s be honest, it’s the perfect day to do it because not only are you looking for something fun to do indoors, but you also have all day to keep starting over because crafts are hard. Here are some things that I pinned to my personal Pinterest that I’m hoping to get done today!

  3. Spa day: With the sound of rain pitter-pattering on your windows, the ambiance for an at-home spa day is already halfway there. I suggest beginning the day with a nice warm bath (if there’s no lightning, of course), littered with bubbles, candles, and that book that you’ve been meaning to start for months. Keep the spa feeling going by climbing in a warm, fluffy robe (bonus comfort if it comes straight from the dryer). Do those nails. Pop on a face mask. Moisturize. Treat. Your. Self.

My favorite weather is the rain. I live for it. It calms me and as you can see above, it’s an excuse I use to treat myself.

Hope you all find joy in whatever weather you’re in today.

Until next time,

H
